GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE HOLIVET INSURANCE: COVER FOR VETERINARY EXPENSES IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT

1 - DEFINITIONS

ACCIDENT: Trauma caused to the body of the insured pet following a sudden and unforeseeable action whose cause is exterior to the animal.

INSURED PET: Dog or cat in the care of a Petsitter under a pet care service contract entered into between the Member and the Petsitter, through HOLIDOG. Its identity, formalised by an approved device (marking, chip) and the contact details of its owner are given in the pet care service contract and in the membership form for this policy.

INSURED PERSON/BENEFICIARY/MEMBER: Owner of the pet, a natural person residing in the country in which the pet care service contract has been taken out with a Petsitter, through HOLIDOG, and who has joined this policy by completing an application form.

PETSITTER: The natural person who has entered into a care service contract for the insured pet with the Member through HOLIDOG.

VETERINARY EXPENSES: The veterinarian's fees and/or expenses relating to surgical intervention, prescribed medicines, anaesthetic costs, analysis costs, radio diagnoses, pet ambulance costs, the costs of staying in the veterinary clinic following an operation, to the exclusion of all other costs. Veterinary expenses must be medically prescribed and the care must be given by a qualified veterinarian, authorised to practise in accordance with the legislation in force and the ethical rules of the profession (Conseil de l'Ordre in France etc. ).

ILLNESS: Any alteration in the pet's health not subsequent to an accident, recorded by a qualified doctor/veterinarian who is authorised to practise, for which the symptoms appear after a phase of development or incubation in the body.

OWNER: Natural person residing in the country in which the pet care service contract with a Petsitter, through HOLIDOG, has been taken out and to whom the pet belongs, i.e. the Insured person/Member/Beneficiary who has taken out a pet care service contract with a Petsitter, through HOLIDOG, and has completed an application form to become a member of this policy.

2 - EXTENT OF COVER
A/ TYPE OF COVER:

Holidog will pay the compensation specified hereafter in the event of an ACCIDENT suffered by the insured pet (dog or cat) during the care service contract.

The Cover is taken out by the insured person who is a member of this policy, who has paid in full for a pet care service contract with a Petsitter through HOLIDOG.

The purpose of this guarantee is to cover "Veterinary Expenses" in the event of an Accident occurring to the pet.

B/ CONTENT OF COVER:

The "veterinary expenses" guarantee covers the period of validity of membership: Reimbursement of "veterinary expenses" in the event of an accident occurring to the pet while it is under the care of the Petsitter during the care contract. The cover reimburses the Veterinary expenses incurred by the Petsitter or by the pet's owner, upon presentation of proof.

C/ MAXIMUM COVER:

The cover is granted for justified veterinary expenses, but may not exceed a maximum of €500 inclusive of VAT per claim, with a limit of €1,000 inclusive of VAT for the period of cover.

D/ EFFECTIVE DATE AND NON-RENEWABLE PERIOD OF COVER:

Membership takes effect on the date referred to in the special conditions of the pet care service contract taken out by the insured person with a Petsitter through HOLIDOG, subject to actual payment of the services and premiums.

The benefit of the cover is granted:

  • Only during the period in which the pet is cared for by the Petsitter as referred to in the pet care service contract taken out by the insured person with a Petsitter, through HOLIDOG.
  • For a maximum period of 30 days, starting from the effective date of the pet care service contract entered into between the Member and the Petsitter, through HOLIDOG.
3. CONDITIONS OF COVER

Under penalty of lapse of the guarantee, except in unforeseeable circumstances or force majeure, the Member must notify the Claim to HOLIDOG, within five (5) working days of becoming aware of the loss.

A/ SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

Under penalty of lapse of the guarantee, the Member must write to: HOLIDOG - 54 rue de Paradis - 75010 PARIS.

Making sure to include the following documents:

  • A certified statement specifying the circumstances of the accident resulting in notification of the claim.
  • The reference number of the pet care service contract taken out with a Petsitter through HOLIDOG.
  • The medical note drafted by a qualified veterinarian, authorised to practise.
  • The original invoices or receipts showing the costs incurred and paid.

Holidog reserves the right to request any other evidence necessary to investigate the case.

B/ SETTLEMENT OF CLAIMS

Once the file is complete and has been checked, where necessary by an expert's report, the Member will receive a cheque for the amount corresponding to the costs incurred, subject to the cover maximum.

4·ADDITIONAL EXCLUSIONS

The following are excluded from the contract:
