About me

Hendrick, Personal Statement. Currently I am a year 11 student at Royton and Crompton school and have been there for the past five years. As this is my final year in school I am now studying for my GCSE’s in: English Language, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Literature, Sociology, Leisure and Tourism and Spanish. My target grades for all of these subjects are A’s, but I am particularly interested in getting high grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physics so I spend a significant amount of my time in science revision after school, which has helped me accomplish two A*'s in my Chemistry coursework recently. The subject I find most problematic is English Language but as I am aware that in order to get far in life you need to accomplish at least a C grade I work particularly hard both in school and out of school trying to secure my target grade, which has showed as I managed to secure myself an A in the recent Mock Exams we hav...

The subject I find most problematic is English Language but as I am aware that in order to get far in life you need to accomplish at least a C grade I work particularly hard both in school and out of school trying to secure my target grade, which has showed as I managed to secure myself an A in the recent Mock Exams we have taken in school. I think that it is very important for me, in my spare time, to spend a lot of time with my family. A lot of my time is taken up doing family orientated activities out of school, whether it is just going out shopping with my sister or going up to the Lake District for the weekend with my whole family. In my spare time I enjoy reading autobiographies and watching reality television, such as 24 hours in A&E, which is where I got the inspiration to go into the A&E aspect of nursing, along with growing up around nursing. In year 10 I made the most of a school project “Mini Enterprise”. I got very involved and the whole year managed to raise a total of over £3000 for the local charity, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice. Likewise every year I like to help the community by donating food to the food hampers, which are then sent out to old people in the community that may not get out to buy their food or may not have enough money to buy food around Christmas time. Every year I like to get involved in the shoebox appeal, where you have to donate presents to disadvantaged children around the world that may not be lucky enough to have received Christmas presents. On Saturdays I work from half 7 in the mornig until around 3pm. I think that by finding myself a job only a month after my 16th birthday was very effective and a very sensible idea as i now know i have the capability to work for what i want. I enjoy working as it gives me a sense of independance because I am no longer having to rely on my mum and dad for things that i want. Quite frequently at home, I look after my 8 year old autistic brother, which at times is very difficult but I think it has helped me become more patient and caring. Another thing I did in my family is care for my Nana who in the past years has had Alzheimer’s which again at times was challenging but very rewarding. When my Nana was alive she went to a day care centre which I often went in to and spent time with not only my Nana but also other old people that also had Alzheimer’s and other problems. Near Christmas I found it very important to go in there and spend time with them and do some activities such as playing cards with them as a lot of them didn’t have families. One of the most demanding tasks i have found myself doing is caring for my mum, who i am a registered young career for and have been for several years. As not only has my mum had bipolar since I have been very young, but in the past few years, while my mum has been battleing breast cancer, caring for not only my mum but especially my two younger brothers has been extreamly strenous, however this has been very fulfilling, beneficial and exceptionally worthwhile. In the future I find it necessary to achieve all the qualifications I need to get to become a nurse, this involves going to college and going to university, in the meantime I am finding it very important to focus mainly on my GCSE's in order to be able to acheive the qualifications i deserve.
